Job Overview
Johnson Engineering, an Apex Company, is seeking an experienced Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Project Administrator to oversee transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience managing transportation projects for local municipalities and / or FDOT. A proven track record working on projects with FDOT SCOP, SCRAP, and LAP grant funding is a plus.
Your Responsibilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for CEI services on FDOT and local agency transportation projects.
- Administer contracts, monitor budgets, and ensure adherence to project schedules.
- Oversee construction inspection teams and maintain compliance with FDOT specifications, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate with the contractor, Engineer of Record and project staff to manage submittals, RFI’s and pay applications.
- Manage documentation and reporting requirements for grant-funded projects, including Davis‑Bacon wage verification and LAP compliance.
- Coordinate with contractors, FDOT representatives, and / or local agencies to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
- Review and approve pay estimates, change orders, and project closeout documentation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CEI inspection and project administration for FDOT or local agencies on transportation projects.
- BS Engineering degree and 3 years CEI experience will be considered in lieu of 5 years’ experience.
- Strong knowledge of FDOT specifications and procedures.
- Familiarity with roadway, drainage, and utility construction practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- FDOT CTQP certifications (Project Administrator, Earthwork, Asphalt, Concrete) required.
- Proficiency in FDOT systems such as Site Manager and other project management tools preferred.
- Fieldwork expected in SW FL region.
- Driver’s license and excellent driving record required.
