About the PositionRiver Bend Administration is seeking a highly motivated tax professional to join the organization as a Tax Accountant. River Bend offers a unique opportunity to acquire immediate experience working on highly sophisticated matters in a supportive and collegial family office environment. New and recent graduates are welcome to apply. This position reports to the Director of Tax and works collaboratively with other members of the Family Trust Company (“FTC”) team and the family’s advisory team.

What you will doThe Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting the annual tax planning and compliance processes for a multi-generational family, under supervision of the Director of Tax. The role provides exposure to several different trust structures and other entities served by the FTC, all of which have their own unique challenges and complexities. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and/or reviewing federal and state tax returns for simple trusts, complex trusts, charitable trusts, corporations, and partnerships.
- Gathering tax information and preparing the tax work papers and projections on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Preparing and/or reviewing reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance, such as foreign corporations and partnerships.
- Conducting tax research, drafting tax memoranda, and composing quantitative projections and models.
- Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to the Director of Tax and FTC colleagues.
- Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and colleagues.
- Liaising and developing relationships with our outside accountants, legal team, and other advisors.
- Recognizing and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes.
- Performing other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Tax Accountant should ideally possess the following attributes:

The Tax Accountant must possess the following professional qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Familiarity with basic tax and accounting concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.).
- A commitment to continuing your learning and development.
- Able to interact diplomatically with all levels of River Bend staff, clients, and outside contacts.
- Experience preparing federal and state income tax returns is a plus.
- Have obtained or have active progress toward a CPA certification (or equivalent).
- Work experience or internship at an accounting firm, financial institution, or family office.
