Job Summary

The RN Safety & Quality Coordinator is a professionally trained RN responsible for leading efforts to advance patient safety culture and performance improvement throughout the organization. The coordinator leads, directs, and negotiates process improvement through collaboration with other leaders, practitioners, and staff to promote safe care delivery that assures efficiency, clinical outcomes, and cost effectiveness throughout the system. The coordinator organizes performance improvement processes for patient care services with an emphasis on clinical guidelines, evidence‑based practice, and outcomes management.

This role is responsible for analysis, process improvement using data collection regarding system‑wide Zero Harm initiatives, report preparation, and participation in projects related to operational and strategic performance data. The overarching goal is to advance safe practices to achieve organizational strategic goals throughout NCH Comprehensive Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of a strategic plan for improving patient safety and quality for the system.
  • Supports and promotes high reliability methods for patient safety and a Just Culture.
  • Streamlines data collection activities to support continuous monitoring and informed decision‑making.
  • Provides ongoing patient tracking, concurrent and retrospective chart abstraction, and data analysis as part of performance improvement activities.
  • Completes data collection using audit tools, such as JCR AMP, accurately and timely.
  • Analyzes clinical data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors quality improvement projects.
  • Leads the integration of quality‑related data into daily operations of clinical teams, ensuring real‑time awareness and responsiveness to frontline processes.
  • Supports the performance improvement process related to E.M.R. documentation and data tracking through dashboards.
  • Serves as liaison between the Quality Department and all other related departments and medical staff.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management and other Quality Leaders in identifying safety and quality management/performance improvement issues encountered within data analysis.li>
  • Stays current on all Zero Harm measures/updates and best‑practice guidelines.
  • Works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance and success with Zero Harm teams using evidence‑based practices and regulatory standards.
  • Reports findings of metrics in a standardized methodology to over‑site committees and appropriate venues using available analytics; supports the Zero Harm Committees.
  • Provides ongoing education and implementation of practice guidelines to support clinical and medical staff in managing Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Utilizes improvement methodologies including Lean Six‑Sigma and PDSA cycles for rapid‑cycle change.
