Role Overview: This position is responsible for managing radiation safety within a healthcare setting, ensuring compliance with radioactive material licenses and regulatory standards. The individual will serve as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), overseeing policies, procedures, and safety protocols related to radioactive materials and radiation use.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and oversee Radiation Policies and Procedures (RPP).
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and chair the Radiation Safety Committee.
- Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of radiation instruments.
- Maintain accurate records, signage, and compliance documentation.
- Provide radiation safety education and training to staff.
- Monitor personnel dosimetry, investigate dose anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop protocols for disposal, contamination control, and emergency response.
- Ensure regulatory registrations, and oversee safety audits and reporting.
A Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Medical Physics, or physical sciences, with at least one year of radiation safety experience and five years in Nuclear Medicine. Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (CRT) with Nuclear Medicine qualification and ARRT or NMTCB registration are required. BLS certification and intermediate computer skills are also essential.
