Taft is seeking a Paralegal to support our Private Client practice group in the Naples office. We require 5+ years of trusts and estates administration and related federal transfer tax experience to support our Private Client team. All employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy — we strive to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Responsibilities- Assists in the collection, distribution, reporting and transfer of estate assets and prepares inventories and asset schedules from multiple sources of information for estate and trust administrations.
- Prepares, with attorney or accountant supervision, state and federal fiduciary income tax returns and state and federal estate and gift tax returns.
- Drafts and e‑files various probate pleadings, trust administration and accounting documents, ensuring that all work product is error‑free and client‑ or filing‑ready.
- Effectively prioritizes work and proactively monitors filing deadlines and case schedules for the group, ensuring attorneys are aware of upcoming deadlines.
- Communicates with attorneys and other team members about the status of estates and other assignments; keeps attorneys informed of the pendency of matters as well as of the status of assigned matters.
- Edits and proofreads documents for accuracy and compliance with applicable federal and state law, regulations, and local rules.
- Proactively supports attorneys and acts as the liaison between attorney and client throughout the corresponding case.
- Utilizes specialized estate and trust administration and tax preparation/reporting software.
- Enters, reviews, and corrects time charges in a timely manner.
- Formal paralegal training from an accredited college or ABA‑approved program, preferably a four‑year degree program, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of paralegal experience in Florida estate and trust settlement and administration.
- Knowledge of relevant Florida law, including estate and trust administration rules and procedures and experience with probate matters software and Florida e‑portal/e‑filing systems.
- Preferably has a working knowledge and experience preparing federal estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.
- Strong working knowledge in the application of Microsoft Office programs.
- Displays strong attention to detail as well as critical thinking.
- Ability to proactively manage multiple projects and administration matters simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Sound judgment, including the ability to identify and elevate issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi‑task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to workplace stressors and competing priorities.
- Must maintain confidentiality of client information.
Location:
Naples, FL – Salary: $75,000 – $80,000.
