What You’ll Do
As a Utilities Project Manager, you'll take the lead on planning and managing a variety of construction and technical projects for the County. You'll be the go-to person coordinating with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure our projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget — while meeting the highest quality standards.
This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community through infrastructure, public spaces, and essential services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Guide: Supervise contractors and crews on daily tasks. Offer support and direction to help them succeed — and step in when complex issues arise.
- Ensure Quality & Safety: Monitor work sites for safety compliance, review construction plans, and make sure everything meets regulatory standards.
- Project Planning: From creating budgets and timelines to reviewing designs and blueprints, you’ll keep every aspect of the project organized and efficient.
- Problem Solver: Work closely with division leadership to troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations, and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Contract & Vendor Management: Help prepare RFPs, evaluate bids, and work with vendors and contractors through the full project lifecycle.
- Community Engagement: Communicate with residents, stakeholders, and community groups about upcoming projects. Represent the division in public outreach and education efforts.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate with utility companies, state agencies, engineers, and others to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare executive summaries, inspection reports, and presentations for leadership and elected officials.
- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep up with tech and construction trends. Recommend new tools, systems, or processes to improve outcomes.
