EssentialFunctions
- Set up and run multiple production machines; perform machine operations including reworking parts such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming. Ensure materials, tooling, and sequence of operations are pre‑planned and established; make necessary machine adjustments and report improper machine functioning or cutting actions for correction.
- Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods; install and adjust cutting tools consistent with material type and size; follow established manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts per documentation.
- Operate hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts in accordance with semicomplicated engineering blueprints and route sheets to close tolerances.
- Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers and comparators; use magnification equipment including microscopes to detect and avoid damage to surfaces and critical areas; visually inspect parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces.
- Routinely maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements; accurately and regularly perform statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
- Actively implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement; effectively apply lean concepts and tools in the work area.
- Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform other related responsibilities as requested.
- Three years related machining experience; able to work with limited guidance in a team environment.
- Able to make machine set‑ups and read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Ability to effectively apply lean initiatives.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Interprets reports and uses job‑specific software applications; able to use employee self‑service systems to access online information.
- Demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‑development activities.
Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery; lift up to 50 lbs; maintain close vision; regular attendance; cooperate professionally with others.
