PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to operate heavy weight trucks and/or other moderately complex automotive equipment and/or machinery in support of operations of assigned department. Employees in this classification have considerable skill, dexterity, and manipulative abilities in heavy truck and equipment operation. Work requires close tolerances, fine adjustments, and constant attention to safety and cautionary factors.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT
Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees may be subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description.
Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
- Operates City of Naples Water Treatment Plant (WTP) lime sludge vacuum press during the business hours of Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m.
- 2:00 p.m. - Monitors vacuum press equipment and makes necessary adjustments as indicated by current conditions with minimum supervision.
- Prepares daily vacuum press log sheets and maintains records.
- Monitors pumps, mixers, feeders, Belt Press bearings, rollers, electrical equipment, and gear boxes in the sludge de-watering process.
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment such as (grease equipment, belt adjustments, belt replacement).
- Operates sludge presses, tractor-trailers and/or other moderately complex to heavy equipment in performing duties of the assigned work area.
- Observes safe and proper operating procedures when operating vehicles, equipment, machinery, and/or tools, in accordance with established and prescribed standards.
- Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, fueling, and/or servicing of assigned vehicles, equipment, machinery, and/or tools to maintain safe and proper operating condition.
- Performs other related duties as required.
