Job SummaryThe Director Philanthropy Major Gift Officer will be an innovative professional responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and securing major individual gifts to NCH as part of the Center for Philanthropy team. The Director works collaboratively and strategically with NCH leadership, volunteers, and other Philanthropy staff to develop and implement strategies for major gift donor relationship management and cultivation. The primary objective of the position is to deepen relationships with community members built on a firm understanding of aligning their interests and values with funding NCH’s strategic vision.

- Focuses on field work to build and advance relationships with a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects who are capable of investing $100,000+ toward institutional priorities.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of strategic priorities and community needs with an ability to balance donor and institutional goals; ensuring proposals are vetted with leadership, appropriately scoped, and well-crafted.
- Qualifies, cultivates, and solicits new major gift donors through thoughtful engagement and involvement of clinical and institutional leadership when appropriate.
- Engages new and current prospects by recognizing, curating, and communicating news and updates that are relevant and interesting.
- Navigates complex situations with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ensures donor stewardship, providing timely, compelling, and consistent engagement and recognition with donors.
- Engages donors, volunteers and advisors, enhancing their connection to NCH as ambassadors among their networks.
- Diligently tracks portfolio activity in donor database.
- Utilizes industry-leading, metrics-driven, moves management process that fully leverages available technology to ensure performance is aligned with institutional objectives.
- Share responsibility for cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and efficiency within the Center for Philanthropy.
- Serve as an active participant on various campaign and leadership teams and task forces.
- Utilize the Philanthropy Operations team to leverage data analytics, donor communications, stewardship, and prospect research to support the fundraising growth plan.
- Act as spokesperson for NCH as requested.
- Develops and maintains productive relationships with NCH clinical and executive leaders to support fundraising initiatives for NCH priorities.
- Demonstrates an ability to solve problems, overcome hurdles and navigate sensitive issues with discretion, tact and strong communication skills.
- Follows established NCH policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, and practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
