The 19-bed award-winning Labor and Delivery department at our North Naples campus delivers over 3,500 babies a year. Our specialty trained nurses work with mothers during the final stages of pregnancy, helping with birthing, monitoring the mother’s vital signs, and recognizing signs and symptoms of potential complications.

Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse – Women’s & Children’s Pavilion independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care using standards of care and policy. This position provides direct nursing care to patients and assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participation in unit committees and quality improvement activities is expected. Requires minimal supervision.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Identify opportunities for process improvement and pursue ongoing skill development.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with legal/regulatory requirements related to information release; utilize the EMR and other information systems.
- Participate in data collection and documentation in the medical record; locate information through chart audits.
- Conduct thorough admissions assessments with appropriate interviewing techniques; prioritize assessments as patient condition warrants.
- Assess age-specific needs, barriers to learning, and patient education needs; develop and implement a sound plan of care and reevaluate as needed.
- Deliver organized nursing care; evaluate interventions using critical thinking; delegate within scope; ensure availability of emergency equipment and supplies.
- Administer medications safely and accurately; coordinate patient/family teaching with individualized methods.
- Follow hospital policies, participate in conferences, and adhere to clinical pathways; provide discharge planning and outcomes evaluation.
- Document clearly in the EMR; communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and physicians.
- Utilize resources and adhere to unit policies; report to the Charge Nurse and seek assistance when needed; ensure efficient care assignments and appropriate use of supplies and equipment.
- Support department operations to align with budget expectations and maintain clinical skills and policies.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Intermediate computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows).
- NICU — Uses power chart tracking shell; knows obstetrical/neonatal nursing diagnoses; NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, basic cardiology within 60 days (NICU), moderate sedation within 6 months (NICU).
- MOM/BABY — Uses power chart tracking shell; obstetrical/neonatal diagnoses; NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, basic cardiology within 60 days (NICU only), moderate sedation within 6 months (NICU only).
- LABOR AND DELIVERY — Fetal monitoring expertise; obstetrical/neonatal diagnoses; demonstrate fetal heart monitoring competence; cesarean section circulation and recovery; NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, ALS within 6 months; basic cardiology within 60 days; fetal monitoring course within 6 months; on-going updates.
- PEDIATRICS — Pediatric nursing diagnoses; PALS within 6 months; moderate sedation within 6 months; basic cardiology within 60 days.
