The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing basic nursing care to clinic patients following established standards and practices.

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Escorts patients to exam/procedure rooms and observes, records, and reports patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs and treatment to providers.
• Assists patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams.
• Collects patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc.
• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care as directed by the provider; may include screenings and administering medications and treatments in accordance with clinical and nursing standards.
• Prepares equipment and aids providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients and with various procedures as needed.
• Documents in patient charts timely and accurately; relays information and instructions to patients/families; records all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, and hospital data in the medical record/EMR.
• Demonstrates knowledge of safe medication administration; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Answers patient phone calls and messages and acts as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.
• Collects and handles lab specimens following established standards and practices; adheres to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Utilizes electronic referral process to complete physician referrals to NCH Healthcare Group specialists and ancillary services.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, including filing or sending medical records and appointment scheduling.
• Maintains awareness of equipment conditions and operation; documents failures promptly.
• Knows the treatment procedures and studies performed, and prepares patients before tests as required.

• Minimum of High School or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a health care facility or private physician office preferred.
• Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate and explain required information.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD‑9 codes.
• Knowledge of basic and specialty medical terminology.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
