Our Temporary Staffing Pool (TSP) Program provides the opportunity to work in temporary full‑time or temporary part‑time positions to cover staffing needs for a 12, 24, or 36 week contract at an elevated hourly rate. TSP employees are assigned shifts through a float pool to areas congruent with their clinical specialty and can be assigned to work at various locations.

Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse – CVICU independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care, policy, and procedure. Provides direct nursing care to patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in shared decision making, unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develop plans that include strategies to attain expected outcomes.
- Implement the plan of care interventions and medical plan of care as appropriate.
- Coordinate care delivery.
- Employ patient teaching to promote health and safety.
- Evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Practice ethically.
- Attain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
- Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.
- Contribute to quality nursing practice and shared decision making (SDM) by supporting council decisions, implementation of decisions and active participation in SDM.
- Communicate effectively in all areas of practice.
- Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting.
- Collaborate with patients, family, the inter‑professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
- Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
- Be accountable to foster, participate and be knowledgeable with the shared decision‑making model of NCH Healthcare System.
- Complete Adult ICU Systems Assessment and integrate findings with other aspects of EMR, i.e., testing results, clinical documentation, etc. to support patient safety and best outcomes.
- Demonstrate competency with monitoring skills:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Pulse oximetry.
- Invasive and non‑invasive monitoring waveform interpretation.
- Hemodynamic measurement and interpretation.
- Knowledgeable in indications of critical care specific medications/infusions and safely administers, titrates and monitors effectiveness.
- Demonstrate safe use, knowledge and troubleshooting of equipment specific to critical care environment.
- Maintain critical care specific competencies (annually).
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs).
- Minimum of 18 months of experience in CVICU/ Care of immediate post‑op open hearts.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- BSN strongly preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required from American Heart Association or Advanced Life Support (ALS) from American Red Cross.
- Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
- Must have experience in management of telemetry or critical care patients considered for program.
- BSN preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Will obtain ACLS certification through Advanced Life Support Training during the program.
- Required to sign a Fellowship agreement which includes a 2‑year employment commitment to remain in Critical Care in a full‑time position after completion of training.
- Intermediate computer knowledge:
Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
