Primary Tasks and Responsibilities- Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
- Write prescriptions for medication and blood products based on laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow‑up studies, therapeutic measures, and care post‑discharge in accordance with written practice protocols.
- Determine patients' eligibility for entry into clinical trials.
- Interpret and evaluate findings of studies/tests.
- Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Administer therapeutic measures / obtain specimens as prescribed.
- Dictate follow‑up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response and plan.
- Dictate or write patient history, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner.
- Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patients’ care.
- Conduct or participate in daily multi‑disciplinary rounds for assigned patients to ensure quality care.
- Provide on‑call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed.
- Triage patients to determine the urgency of physician evaluation.
- Document and report care in an accurate, timely manner using appropriate forms and records.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing healthcare environment.
- Assist staff in times of crisis or emergency.
- Market and promote cancer treatment outside the institution.
- Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of assignments.
- Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law, and adhere to FCS policies and procedures, including IT policies and the Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Keep work area and records neat and orderly.
- Maintain company equipment safely and operationally.
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient and employee information as required by HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Work at any FCS location as directed to meet business needs.
- Work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing or post‑master's nurse practitioner certificate program.
- Current license/registration to practice in Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
