An Environmental Specialist III with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Naples will oversee a community science restoration monitoring program to assess the effects of habitat restoration activities. The role involves coordinating volunteer monitoring efforts, maintaining databases, designing citizen science training, and creating outreach materials to engage the public in coastal restoration projects. This position reports to the Department of Environmental Protection and supports habitat restoration and community engagement initiatives.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable biological sciences field or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of coastal conservation and habitat restoration issues
- Proficiency with GIS methods (ARC-Pro, ARC-online) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret biological data and prepare technical reports
- Valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs
- Experience providing oversight of seasonal interns and volunteers in conservation activities
