Job SummaryThe Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of all employees, visitors, vendors, critical infrastructure, and building grounds at the facility assigned.
Essential Functions- Patrols the premises, monitors security cameras and alarm systems and inspects buildings and equipment.
- Verifies the identity of people entering the building, and uses access control systems to ensure only authorized people are allowed in the building.
- Provides help and guidance to employees and visitors.
- Responds to alarm and emergent situations by assessing the situation and determining the appropriate response.
- Writes reports about any incidents, security breaches or disturbances that occur.
- Provides first aid or CPR during medical emergencies until professional medical assistance arrives.
- Responsible for locking and unlocking offices, departments or buildings as needed.
- Questions unauthorized people and escort them from the building.
- Upholds company policies, security protocols and legal regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- H.S. Diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years work experience in law enforcement, military, physical or corporate security, and/or a combination of the three.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform walking patrols on the premises and other CHS buildings as necessary.
- Ability to utilize security cameras and access control systems.
- Ability to reason, establish facts and work through situations with uncooperative individuals.
- Postures a professional working attitude at all times.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet information and other basic computer applications.
- Ability to secure and protect sensitive information.
- Ability and skill to respond and take necessary action related to emergencies.
- Firearm license:
Must be licensed by the state of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Protective Services as an Armed Security Officer before date of hire.
