The Manager Public Safety is responsible for overall supervision and oversight of security operations at all Public Safety staffed locations; assists with preparing and implementing plans and procedures, establishes priorities, allocates resources, and assists with conducting training. Reports to the Administrative Director of Public Safety on all matters concerning Public Safety.

• Establishes and oversees operational procedures for activities such as staff assistance and intervention in disruptions by patients, visitors and personnel; traffic control; guarding and patrolling physical property; escort service for visitors and personnel; monitoring systems response; orienting and monitoring of personnel working in high‑risk areas; and investigation of accidents and criminal acts.
• Oversees 24‑hour response to issues at all NCH Public Safety staffed facilities.
• Directly supervises and completes annual performance reviews of Public Safety Officers, Leads and Supervisors.
• Oversees the scheduling process to assure security coverage is consistent with departmental requirements and campus needs.
• Maintains the principles of confidentiality. Understands the legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information. Able to use the information systems pertinent to the job.
• Provides education to staff on performance improvement. Assists in the planning of orientation and in‑service training for unit and staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, federal, state and local regulations and standards. Works with local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of public safety activities.
• Confers with representatives of management to formulate policies, determines need for safety and security programs and coordinates programs with system activities.
• Assists with troubleshooting issues related to Public Safety systems.
• Assists with the oversight of the NCH System Operations Center and Public Safety Dispatch.
• Active member of the Workplace Violence Committee.
• Assists with the planning, execution and after‑action processes related to Emergency Management exercises representing the role of Public Safety.
• Oversees the Public Safety issues or concerns in the absence of the Director.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 5 years of experience in Law Enforcement/Security OR High School/GED with 11 years of experience in Law Enforcement/Security.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Law Enforcement/Security.
• Intermediate computer knowledge:
  Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
