Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling systems, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related components.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and other systems; inspect and test to diagnose malfunctions using appropriate tools.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and operate the company-issued service truck; perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and address concerns.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, and diesel-specific tools; perform welding and use lift/jacks as needed.
  • Document work per company standards and upload RO findings, parts used, and photos using the TRAIT application on an iOS device.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedules; maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on estimates and discuss RO findings.
  • Adhere to organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of related experience; alternative combinations such as higher-level degrees/certifications with 3 years of experience, or 7 years in a related field, may be considered.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform duties.
  • Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months and 608/609 certification within 18 months.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; DOT medical card with sufficient validity may be substituted in certain cases.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Driver Qualification File.

  • ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2 certifications

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making with the ability to evaluate information and determine best course of action.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of moderate-heavy labor.
  • Clear, concise communication and ability to engage in effective two-way communication with clients and teammates.
  • Ability to identify required tools and equipment for jobs; use logic and reasoning to evaluate options.
