Greater Naples Fire Rescue District is dedicated to protecting life, property, and the environment through service, professionalism, and excellence. We are seeking a skilled Water Supply Technician to join our Fire and Life Safety Section. This position plays a critical role in maintaining reliable water supply systems that ensure effective fire protection for our community.
Position OverviewThe Water Supply Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and performing minor repairs on fire hydrants and alternative water supply systems throughout the District. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with District personnel, engineers, business partners, and community members.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform inspections, scheduled maintenance, and flow testing on fire hydrants.
Conduct general refurbishing of hydrants, including replacement, cleaning, surface preparation, and painting.
Complete daily activity logs, inspection forms, maintenance records, and flow test reports in a timely manner.
Transport and maintain tools, equipment, and materials for assigned projects.
Utilize District records management and GIS software to record and track water supply information.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain equipment in proper working order.
Assist in ensuring compliance with District standards, governing documents, and applicable laws.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent the District positively at all times.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in water supply system maintenance, repair, flow testing, and/or monitoring (including fire hydrants).
Knowledge and experience with ArcGIS (ESRI) and EPR Fireworks preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid Florida Driver License, Class “E,” and a driving record that meets District standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret system plans, permits, and flow test data.
Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of water distribution systems and fire hydrant operations.
Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment for installation, repair, and testing.
Ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and respond to emergencies.
Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment under pressure.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with District personnel, engineers, and the public.
Working ConditionsActive work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Requires lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, kneeling, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
Exposure to heat, humidity, rain, muddy conditions, pests, and wildlife.
May be recalled for emergencies outside regular work hours.
Competitive salary - $46,937-$59,534
, commensurate with experience.
