The Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking a detail oriented team member to perform intermediate professional work collecting, organizing, and evaluating transportation planning data.

  • Provides technical planning support, including collecting, organizing, and analyzing transportation data, supports development of plans, studies, and reports, assist with performance measures and program compliance.
  • Assist with MPO planning compliance including documenting planning processes, assisting with reporting requirements, maintaining documentation, files, schedules, audits and reviews.
  • Supports the MPO Board and committees in the development of agendas, meeting packages, and support materials. Attends and assists with preparing and conducting meetings, drafting minutes and related documentation.
  • Assists with Public Involvement and Community Engagement activities, preparing and assisting with meeting materials, notices, maps, and presentations, attends outreach events, and records public comments.
  • Assists with Project and Program Monitoring including supporting MPO projects, grants, and related planning activities, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and providing ongoing support for the MPO’s core documents including the UPWP, TIP, and LRTP.
  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the MPO including working with budget preparation, purchasing, payroll, and accounting documents. Coordinates to develop budget documents, track expenditures, and maintain related records and documentation.
  • Provides interagency coordination and support including working with FDOT, FHWA, and local agencies through the preparation of draft correspondence, gathering data for interagency reporting, and assisting with follow-up and documentation.
  • Provides support to various sections within the Division regarding verbal clarification and/or interpretations and research; conducts and develops research relevant to planning through the use of the Internet, libraries, professional organizations, experts, surveys, field interviews, committees, public meetings, etc.
  • Provides the public with information related to the status of projects.
  • Conducts pre-application meetings to review plans in the preliminary stages of developing a project to give direction to applicants.
  • Conducts and participates in meetings and training; coordinates various committees.
  • Presents information on various planning related topics to focus groups, school children, business community, residents, special committees, professional organizations, and County Commissioners, requiring public speaking and the preparation of visual presentations; serves as a liaison with the public.
  • Performs record keeping; maintains files; composes memos and letters.
  • Compiles and develops collected data into reports concerning planning issues; research planning and development practices.
  • Meets advisory board members to discuss their planning needs and concerns.
  • Provides technical and advisory services to County officials and other County staff as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • Candidates without a degree should possess four (4) additional years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
  • Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
