Summary
You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Enviromental Business Line of NAVAL FAC ENGR CMD EUROPE SW ASIA Italy.
Duties
You will advise scientists and engineers on environmental policies to ensure operations are in compliance with environmental regulations.
You will conduct environmental quality assessments of programs to determine compliance with mission objectives and set regulations.
You will confer with other organizations to resolve program concerns.
You will collaborate with others outside and inside of the organization to resolve technical problems or concerns.

This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field FACILITIES ENGINEERING Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
This position may be required to provide immediate contingency support requiring a physical and immunizations deemed necessary for the environment in which this support is provided.
Field visits may require the use of personal type safety equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes, protective eyewear and, on rare occasions, gas monitors and protective clothing.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Ensuring command compliance to federal, state, and local environmental planning protection regulations, policies and procedures;
2) Managing environmental projects and programs to support and sustain the commands environmental missions and multi-media environmental compliance on specific functions (i.e. drinking water, wastewater, hazardous material, pollution, air, etc.);
3) Developing alternative processes and procedures for deficiencies identified during environmental inspections; and
