The VRam Truck Operator is a dual-role position responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of liquid asphalt to construction sites. This includes ensuring timely delivery, maintaining the quality of the material during transit, and ensuring it meets project specifications. In addition to truck driving duties, the employee will also be tasked with performing laboring duties as part of the seal crew, which involves surface preparation, crack filling, sealant application, and general maintenance of asphalt surfaces.
Union membership is required for this position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in pre-seal and finish seal operations, ensuring proper preparation and completion of asphalt tasks.
- Perform various manual labor tasks, including digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
- Prepare and maintain the job site by clearing obstacles and hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Safely transport and handle construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from the site.
- Support loading and unloading of materials as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
- Collaborate with and provide assistance to skilled workers, including Operators and Flaggers, to maintain workflow.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, promoting efficiency and safety.
- Dispose of waste and debris responsibly, adhering to environmental and safety guidelines.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Promptly report any safety hazards, incidents, or issues to supervisors to ensure immediate resolution.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to shifting priorities, tasks, and responsibilities based on evolving project needs.
- Strong verbal communication skills, able to convey information clearly and professionally in various settings.
- Ensures that all aspects of work are completed to the highest standards with an emphasis on thoroughness and accuracy.
- Ability to work as part of a team but also independently when necessary.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions, ensuring tasks are executed efficiently and as directed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is essential.
- Ability to perform strenuous tasks for long periods of time.
- Ability to work long hours including early mornings, some nights, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and to stoop, bend, and crouch to perform full range of duties.
- Must be able to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 30 pounds personally and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Must have manual dexterity to hand carry generators, construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
- Must maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
- Work may involve frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
