About the Role

We're hiring a Project Management Co-Op to support construction projects from planning through completion while gaining real-world experience alongside experienced Project Managers and Area Managers.

This is a full-time summer co-Op opportunity for Summer 2027 designed for students who want meaningful, hands-on experience in construction project management. You'll gain exposure to field operations, project coordination, production tracking, safety, scheduling, communication, and leadership while working on active construction projects across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Our goal is not just to provide one summer of experience—we're looking to develop future project leaders.

At Gerken Paving, we believe in investing in students who are eager to learn and grow. Students who return for additional co-Op terms have the opportunity to progress through a structured development path as they gain experience and demonstrate growth.

Build a foundation in construction project management by learning project documentation, production tracking, safety processes, quantity management, and field operations while working alongside experienced project leaders.

Take on greater responsibility through project tracking, field coordination, quantity reconciliation, project documentation, scheduling support, and communication with project teams.

Gain advanced project leadership experience through project planning, resource coordination, cost tracking, production monitoring, scheduling support, and mentorship of newer co-Op students.

Our goal is to bring co-Op students back for multiple terms so they can continue building their skills, take on additional responsibility, and grow within our Project Management team. Advancement through the co-Op levels is based on previous experience, performance, initiative, and demonstrated growth.

  • Support project teams with production tracking and quantity management
  • Learn how construction projects are planned, scheduled, and executed
  • Assist with project documentation and communication
