Job title - Control Engineer
Location - Napoleon, OH 43545 – ONSITE
Duration - Temp to Hire
Shift/Hours - 2nd Shift – Monday – Friday (4pm – 12:00am)
What You’ll DoAs a Controls Engineer
, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving production systems by ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement in manufacturing automation and controls.
- Review and debug PLC logic for proper operation, error-proofing, and data collection functionality
- Lead root cause investigations to minimize downtime and improve process reliability
- Support and lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Review and approve electrical/controls schematics, mechanical drawings, and assembly system BOMs
- Interface with vendors for system design, build, runoff, and installation
- Develop and maintain PM schedules, critical spare parts lists, and control documentation
- Support quality functions by developing PFMEAs, Operator Instructions, Control Plans, and Process Flow Charts
- Participate in CI programs and cost‑saving initiatives (VA/VE, MCM, etc.)
- Maintain and promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- 3+ years of Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with RSLogix 5000 and RSLinx (required)
- Experience with lift assists
, pneumatic devices
, and safety equipment (light curtains, e‑stops, etc.) - Proficiency in developing PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process documentation
- Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite
, AutoCAD
, and Vis View - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and team‑building abilities
- Ability to support extended hours, multiple shifts, and occasional weekend work
- Experience with fastener torque systems
- Familiarity with barcode scanners and RFID systems
