Job title - Control Engineer

Location - Napoleon, OH 43545 – ONSITE

Duration - Temp to Hire

Shift/Hours - 2nd Shift – Monday – Friday (4pm – 12:00am)

What You’ll Do

As a Controls Engineer
, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving production systems by ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement in manufacturing automation and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and debug PLC logic for proper operation, error-proofing, and data collection functionality
  • Lead root cause investigations to minimize downtime and improve process reliability
  • Support and lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Review and approve electrical/controls schematics, mechanical drawings, and assembly system BOMs
  • Interface with vendors for system design, build, runoff, and installation
  • Develop and maintain PM schedules, critical spare parts lists, and control documentation
  • Support quality functions by developing PFMEAs, Operator Instructions, Control Plans, and Process Flow Charts
  • Participate in CI programs and cost‑saving initiatives (VA/VE, MCM, etc.)
  • Maintain and promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with RSLogix 5000 and RSLinx (required)
  • Experience with lift assists
    , pneumatic devices
    , and safety equipment (light curtains, e‑stops, etc.)
  • Proficiency in developing PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process documentation
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite
    , AutoCAD
    , and Vis View
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and team‑building abilities
  • Ability to support extended hours, multiple shifts, and occasional weekend work
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with fastener torque systems
  • Familiarity with barcode scanners and RFID systems
