SUMMARY OF POSITION
:
Material Handlers are responsible for supplying workstations and material racks with the proper materials, supplies and component parts, typically while operating equipment such as an industrial forklift or tugger. In addition, Material Handlers will transport finished goods and scrap to designated areas while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
SKILLS/
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to pass the necessary testing for equipment licenses (lift truck license and/or tugger license).
- Maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provide for individual growth.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals and operating instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Familiar with FIFO (First In – First Out) protocols
- Ability to use various types of tools (manual, electric, pneumatic, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of PPE and Safety Systems
- Demonstrated sense of urgency, responsibility and accountability
- Awareness level Lock Out/Tag Out process knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of resins, materials and packaging products.
- Knowledge of lot control & lot control processes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of operating an industrial forklift in a production manufacturing facility.
