Industrial Engineer – Amphenol Communications Solutions
Location:
Nashua, New Hampshire
Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, specializes in interconnect solutions for communications, mobile, RF, optics, and commercial electronics. As a leader in high‑speed, high‑bandwidth electrical connectors, ACS seeks an Industrial Engineer to join the High Speed Backplane team in Nashua.
Responsibilities- Develop operations plans, assembly line rationalization, capital expenditure plans, and manpower projections.
- Aid in strategic planning for new product introduction (NPI) and product modifications, working with marketing to determine forecasts and process scope.
- Conduct cost‑benefit analysis and evaluate alternative design implications, comparing vendor vs in‑house manufacturing costs.
- Perform competitive analysis by reverse engineering competitors’ products to estimate processes and costs.
- Analyze gaps between predicted and actual costs, optimize process parameters, and evaluate capital payback and business cases.
- Manage second sourcing and supply‑chain geo‑diversity, sourcing materials from varied suppliers and manufacturing locations.
- Quantify process implications across manufacturing techniques (stamping, plating, laser welding, adhesives, multi‑shot injection molding, manual assembly, custom automated systems).
- Troubleshoot design‑for‑manufacturability issues, including hand‑off, capacity bottlenecks, staffing, line balancing, and equipment requirements.
- Recommend product and process design changes to optimize function, minimize cost, and streamline manufacturing.
- Communicate process implications with design, marketing, and management teams; occasional travel to domestic and foreign manufacturing sites.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering (or related field) preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, preferably in process engineering.
- Strong interpersonal skills for global cross‑functional collaboration.
- Excellent problem‑solving, logical reasoning, and detail orientation.
- Technical knowledge of stamping, plating, molding, assembly, and related technologies; familiarity with quality programs such as FMEA, SPC, Fishbone Analysis, and Pareto Charts.
- Mastery of unit conversions and common measurement units.
- Demonstrated accountability and ability to drive business‑directed activities with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; basic experience with 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo) and ERP systems preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Access, or project scheduling and database usage is a plus.
