Position Overview

The Credentialing Portfolio Manager serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, overseeing all aspects of their credentialing needs. This role is responsible for managing client relationships, ensuring timely and accurate credentialing of providers, coordinating project deliverables, and driving client satisfaction. The Credentialing Client Manager plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance throughout the credentialing lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Serve as the day‑to‑day liaison for assigned clients, responding to inquiries, providing updates, and addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with client contacts, anticipating their needs and proactively offering solutions.
  • Credentialing Oversight
    • Manage the end‑to‑end credentialing and recredentialing processes for providers, ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer‑specific requirements.
    • Conduct thorough review of provider files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and readiness for submission to payers or credentialing committees.
    • Oversee delegated credentialing processes, including initial file audits, ongoing roster management, and compliance with delegation agreements.
  • Delegated Credentialing Management
    • Coordinate and complete delegated credentialing audits in compliance with NCQA, URAC, CMS, and payer‑specific standards.
    • Maintain and update provider rosters in accordance with delegated contract requirements and payer specifications.
    • Perform and document primary source verifications of credentials according to regulatory and client standards.
    • Manage quarterly and ad hoc reporting requirements related to delegated credentialing activities.
    • Support audit preparation, documentation review, and corrective action plans as needed following external audits.
  • Project Coordination
    • Oversee multiple client credentialing projects simultaneously, setting timelines, assigning tasks, and ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule.
    • Maintain organized client records, credentialing databases, status reports, and project documentation.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare and deliver regular credentialing and delegated credentialing status updates and reporting to clients.
    • Proactively elevate issues and collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop solutions.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
    • Ensure all credentialing and delegated credentialing activities comply with NCQA, URAC, CMS, and payer‑specific guidelines.
    • Stay informed of changes in industry regulations and best practices and implement updates to internal processes as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in credentialing, provider enrollment, or a healthcare administrative role; client‑facing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of credentialing standards, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with credentialing software (e.g., CACTUS, Verity, Medallion) a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) designation.
  • Experience working with dental, medical, or behavioral health providers.
  • Familiarity with delegated credentialing and payer contracting processes.
