About the JobThe Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining various telecommunication systems in support of the complex Solution Health Information Technology infrastructure and member/partner networks.
What You’ll Do- Configures, installs, and maintains various telephony switches, telecommunication systems, and PBX hardware and software. Configures, installs, and maintains voice mail and unified messaging systems.
- Configures, installs, and maintains call center applications. Configures, installs, maintains, and monitors datacenter and network closet environmental monitoring systems.
- Performs routine system administration including, but not limited to, the adding of new users, setting up of groups, and the implementation of new sites.
- Proactively monitors telecommunication system performance and integrity in order to maintain the highest levels of availability. Triages and escalates issues to other functional groups as necessary.
- Develops, maintains, and tests backup and recovery procedures as they relate to the availability, reliability, and redundancy of the telecommunications infrastructure.
- Maintains an inventory of spare parts, spare equipment, components, etc. in order to provide continuous service to organization users.
- Utilizes current IT Service Management software to ensure end user and/or infrastructure generated incidents (tickets) are logged, dispatched, escalated, and resolved efficiently to minimize user and system downtime. Maintains accurate service request records for reporting purposes.
- Fully monitors and maintains system backups for all assigned hardware and systems. Maintains accurate documentation as it relates to how systems are backed up.
- Participates in occasional after-hours and weekend work.
- Participates in a 24x7 departmental on-call rotation.
- Requires occasional job-related travel.
Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent combination of education and 5-7 years relevant experience required.
Licensure/CertificationOne or more current IT or Telecommunication industry standard certifications from Cisco, Avaya, etc.
