Risk Manager/Analyst, Underwriter
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking an Underwriter II to join our Workers’ Compensation Corporate Underwriting department within the newly established Complex Account Unit.
In this role, you will underwrite and service new and renewal workers’ compensation accounts that fall outside regional underwriting authority, based on account size, complexity, hazards, exposures, service requirements and agency profile.
This position offers significant exposure to C-suite executives and collaboration with brokers and sales teams. The role is remote for those 50 miles or more from an AmTrust office; within 50 miles a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote is required.
CompensationBase pay range: $66,900.00 - $85,000.00 per year. Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary information is a general guideline only; salaries are based on a wide range of factors including skills, experience, education and market conditions.
Responsibilities- Underwrite and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing. Maintain compliance with state filings and corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Operate within written authority grant and make referrals to Management as required.
- Collaborate closely with territory team, regional sales manager, and business generation consultants to develop agency relationships and achieve unit goals.
- Educate agents on underwriting appetite to attract profitable business.
- Travel in the territory to meet with agents and further develop business relationships as needed.
- Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross‑departmental staff to resolve policyholder and producer issues.
- Provide pertinent information and guidance to operations staff for coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.
- Keep current with market trends and demands.
- Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of workers’ compensation experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in workers’ compensation coverage, risk selection, and pricing.
- Ability to interpret data and make informed, calculated risk decisions.
- Ability to contribute to tactical and strategic planning.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, SharePoint) with demonstrated high‑accuracy output.
- Experience underwriting workers’ compensation for large accounts.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor individuals of various backgrounds.
- CPCU, AIS, or CIC designation preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
