We are a boutique intellectual property firm seeking an experienced patent attorney for a lateral hire role with a commission-based compensation structure. This opportunity is designed for senior practitioners who value high-quality work, close client relationships, and the economics of a boutique environment.
The PracticeOur firm operates as a true boutique with direct attorney involvement at every stage of representation. We emphasize long-term client partnerships, technical rigor, and professional autonomy. Administrative and operational support is provided, allowing attorneys to concentrate on legal analysis, drafting, and client strategy.
Role Responsibilities- Handle patent prosecution matters end-to-end, including drafting, filing, and office action responses
- Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and risk considerations
- Maintain and grow client relationships consistent with a boutique service model
- Contribute to firm culture, mentorship, and practice development as appropriate
- JD and active state bar membership
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- Substantial patent prosecution experience (generally 5+ years)
- Strong technical background aligned with practice needs
- Portable or emerging book of business preferred, but not mandatory
- Commitment to high-quality, detail-oriented legal work
- Commission-based compensation tied to collected revenue
- Competitive percentage reflecting boutique economics and low internal overhead
- No billing quotas or origination caps
- Compensation structure designed to reward efficiency, quality, and client trust
- Direct client access and meaningful responsibility
- Greater control over workload and practice direction
