Business Development Representative – Granite City Electric Supply Co., Inc.

Join us in a dynamic entry‑level role focused on generating and qualifying new business opportunities. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you will receive extensive training on the fundamentals of electric supply sales.

Location

Multiple offices across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, and Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect and identify clients via cold calling, research, and direct marketing outreach.
  • Travel to work sites to engage decision makers and demonstrate products and services.
  • Research prospects and identify stakeholders to generate interest and build rapport.
  • Manage expectations, overcome objections, and maintain an organized pipeline and activity records.
  • Reach and exceed key performance indicators including calls scheduled, calls completed, qualified opportunities, and deals won.
  • Develop skills necessary for promotion into a consultative selling or account management role.
  • Collaborate with management, marketing, and senior sales teams to grow career in sales.
  • Work alongside top performers and BDRs to suggest ways to improve procedures and evaluate successes.

Job Details
  • Position type:
    Full‑time, hourly with commission.
  • Hours:

    Monday‑Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. (occasional evenings and weekends).
  • Physical demands:
    Light to moderate lifting up to 20 lb, traveling, ladder access, and on‑site events.
  • Travel:
    Approximately 30 % regional travel required.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree preferred; entry‑level to 1‑year sales experience acceptable. Cold‑calling training a plus.

Base salary: $40,000. First-year earning potential: $70,000–$90,000.
