We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity while supporting the fast-paced demands of a modern tech environment.
Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and executing efficient month-end close processes. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, product, and operations—to ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition, support financial planning, and contribute to process automation initiatives.
Responsibilities- Accounting & Reporting:
Oversee general ledger functions, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. - Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure accurate transaction coding.
- Revenue & Expense Management:
Review customer and vendor contracts for proper accounting treatment. - Partner with operations and sales teams to ensure accurate invoicing, subscription billing, and expense reporting.
- Reconcile deferred revenue and other key accounts.
- Month-End Close:
Lead and execute month-end close, meeting tight deadlines. - Prepare variance and trend analyses for management and investors.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all reconciliations.
- Audit & Compliance:
Support annual audits and due diligence processes by preparing schedules and reports. - Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies.
- Process & Systems Improvement:
Collaborate with finance leadership to streamline workflows and implement automation. - Leverage technology to enhance accounting efficiency and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with FP&A on actual-to-budget reporting and forecasting;
Partner with HR/Payroll to ensure accurate payroll and benefits accounting.
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to high-growth technology or software environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP; familiarity with ASC 606 a plus.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Net Suite, Sage Intacct, Quick Books, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Preferred:
- CPA license (active or in-progress).
- Experience in subscription-based or recurring revenue business models.
- Familiarity with cloud-based tools and billing platforms.
- Analytical and forward-thinking problem solver.
- Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Adaptable and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment.
