Position: Unit Clerk / Secretary

Unit Clerk / Secretary – Lakeshore Meadows

We are seeking a reliable and organized Unit Clerk/Secretary for our Lakeshore Meadows rehabilitation unit. The role involves serving as the primary point of contact for families, nurses, and allied health staff, managing communications, scheduling, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate via phone, email, or fax with families, nurses, and allied health personnel at the rehab nursing station.
  • Assist patients and/or families in scheduling follow‑up outpatient appointments and arranging transportation.
  • Maintain the station’s cleanliness and organization throughout the day.
  • Answer the telephone and relay messages.
  • Document in the Electronic Health Record including order entry, vital signs, and lab/x‑ray processing.
  • Maintain a schedule of patients’ appointments and transportation, assisting with arrangements as needed.
  • Process laboratory, x‑ray, and other special tests; ensure reports are received.
  • Maintain inventory of paper and desk supplies.
  • Ensure appropriate documents are scanned upon patient discharge.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Organized and capable of keeping the station tidy.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with multiple departments and vendors.
  • Proficiency in calculator and computer use.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

  • Adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities to perform all duties.
  • Ability to stand or walk continuously for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity required for handling records.
  • Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, and lift without restrictions.
