Gabriella & Co. is partnering with a national commercial general contractor to hire a Senior MEP Engineer for its Nashville operations, including a multi-year entertainment venue under construction. The firm builds hospitals, laboratories, universities, data centers, airports, courthouses and complex commercial facilities.
This is a senior construction leadership role, not a design role. You will own complex mechanical and electrical scopes from preconstruction through turnover, manage budgets and teams, and represent the firm with clients and design partners. The career path leads to Engineering Services Manager.
What you’ll lead- Complex M/E construction activity across assigned projects: field coordination, constructability, installation, QC and commissioning
- Project budgets, GMPs, hard bids, range and budgetary estimates
- M/E system evaluation and value-engineering recommendations
- MEP bid scopes, bid analysis, subcontract negotiation and equipment procurement
- Sequencing strategy and scheduling direction
- Inspections, shop-drawing reviews and submittal coordination
- Commissioning plans, prefunctional checklists, functional testing, deficiency resolution and turnover documentation
- Staffing, budgets and profitability across projects; mentoring junior MEP professionals
- Client presentations, project interviews, pursuits and business development;
Lean construction practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering (required)
- 10+ years of construction management experience with a commercial GC or M/E contractor, managing MEP scopes start to finish
- Strong estimating, budgeting, GMP and subcontract negotiation experience
- Demonstrated leadership of field teams and commissioning activities
- Experience managing project profitability and client relationships
- Working knowledge of BIM, construction scheduling tools and MEP construction technology
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
Not a fit: civil or structural engineers, design-only M/E engineers, or backgrounds primarily in residential construction.
