Provide exceptional chairside assistance to the dentist during general and airway-related procedures
Prepare and break down operatories with proper instruments, materials, and equipment
Anticipate provider needs to support efficient clinical flow
Support patient comfort, safety, and emotional well-being throughout visits
Deliver post-operative and post-visit instructions as directed
Assist with airway screenings, exams, and diagnostic records
Capture clinical records such as photos, scans, impressions, and CBCT support
Reinforce airway and treatment recommendations using approved language
Support airway treatment starts and patient transitions from diagnosis to care
Help ensure airway patients move smoothly through the care process without delays
Clean, disinfect, and reset treatment rooms between patients
Perform instrument sterilization in compliance with OSHA, CDC, and state regulations
Ensure operatories and instruments are fully prepared at the start and end of each day
Monitor equipment and notify leadership of any issues
Greet and prepare patients in a warm, professional manner
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families
Reduce patient anxiety by explaining procedures and next steps within scope
Coordinate with front desk and clinical team to ensure seamless handoffs
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff
Support daily office flow and assist where needed to keep schedules running smoothly
Help onboard and support team members when requested
Communicate proactively when challenges or workflow issues arise
Maintain required certifications (RDA, X-ray, CPR/BLS, OSHA, HIPAA)
Participate in training for new systems, technology, or airway protocols
Stay engaged in learning airway and growth concepts
Contribute ideas to improve patient care, communication, and efficiency
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dentist(s) or Office Manager
Support special airway, growth, or clinical initiatives as needed
- Active Tennessee dental assistant license
- Dental Assistant training/school certification
- 5 or more years of dental assisting clinical experience required
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of OSHA, health & safety regulations
- Experience with digital software
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
