Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Digital Fabrications Committee and reporting to the Assistant to the Dean in the O’More College of Architecture & Design, the Digital Fabrications and Technology Resources Manager will serve to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the digital fabrications lab and to strengthen collaboration between the O’More College of Architecture & Design and the Watkins College of Art by supporting equipment in both colleges and serving as a point of contact between faculty, staff, and students for project needs, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.

  • Provide oversight of the digital fabrications lab, including proper use and maintenance of the equipment, support for faculty and student use (especially during non-business hours), and budget management for supply and equipment procurement.
  • Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and repair of digital fabrication tools and related machinery in the O’More College of Architecture & Design and the Watkins College of Art.
  • Work with both colleges to implement and maintain lab policies in alignment with university guidelines, tailored to the needs of the O’More and Watkins colleges.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student Lab Assistants and Building Monitors to serve in the digital fabrications lab and create a schedule to ensure safe, reliable access for students and faculty. Serve as a point of contact for Building Monitors in the evenings and weekends and resolve issues that might arise, in coordination with Campus Security.
  • Support the organization and promotion of lab events (e.g., student worker training, workshops, lectures) and lab communications such as maintenance of the lab’s website.
  • Liaise with department chairs, budget manager and Belmont IT to ensure the appropriate and timely requisition, installation, and maintenance of software required for O'More College programs including, but not limited to, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD/Auto Desk, Revit, 3D Max. Serve as a point of contact for students and faculty to troubleshoot and work in collaboration with Belmont IT to resolve software issues.
  • Provide tech support for O’More- and Watkins-owned equipment (i.e., lab computers, large-format plotters, VR headsets, GoPro Omni camera, iPads, etc.) by managing equipment and supply inventory, establishing equipment rental procedures, providing training for faculty and students, leading workshops and in-class demonstrations, and coordinating class‑specific project support.

Required Education

Vocational or technical training or degree required;
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Required Experience

1‑3 years of professional experience operating and maintaining proper function of digital fabrication equipment and working knowledge of design software including, but not limited to, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD/Auto Desk, Revit, 3DS Max preferred.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
