Your Role

As a Design Manager
, you will lead and deliver a variety of project types and sizes through all phases. You will join our team of design thinkers and doers who specialize in storytelling and creating experiences in design. As the main client contact, you’ll draw on your extensive knowledge of design and delivery processes while mentoring junior staff to promote high-quality design and client satisfaction.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing clients, identifying all potential opportunities.
  • Stay informed about clients’ business objectives, plans, target audiences, and market trends to identify opportunities for Gensler’s services.
  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams.
  • Manage project processes to ensure clarity of requirements, deliverables, timelines, and visibility against fees throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare, communicate, and monitor project work plans, budgets, and deliverables for clients and internal teams.
  • Review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, civil, and other consultants.
  • Take ownership of problem-solving and resolution planning in collaboration with Practice Area leadership and Studio Director.
  • Support business development efforts with current and potential clients.
  • Contribute to project reports and staffing meetings with accurate information to improve delivery and financial objectives.
  • Review project accounting documents and draft project billing.
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and marketing team to document project stories and arrange photography/videography.

Your Qualifications

  • Experience in Design Management and Project Management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 10+ years of professional experience.
  • Registered Interior Designer or Architect.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of interior design/architectural projects.
  • Proven client service and account leadership abilities.
  • Proactive and adaptable, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong programming and space planning skills.
  • High design competence with knowledge of building codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Experience managing consultant teams and resolving complex technical and design issues.
