Job Title: Long Term Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Be a LEADer. Substitute Teach with LEAD Public Schools.

Our ideal Long Term Substitute teacher is passionate about helping out others, wants to potentially become a teacher, loves working with students who need the most support, is flexible, is coachable, and wants to grow as an educator.

JOB GOAL

Our Long Term Substitute teachers are an integral part of our school community and environment. They work relentlessly with their teammates to ensure that there are no gaps in student learning while the teacher of record is absent. This incredible work is done through coaching and support from administration, implementing regular feedback, collaboration with colleagues, data analysis, and working to make sure that students rise above the challenges they face.

We ask our substitute teachers to be flexible, hardworking, and constantly striving to improve their abilities in the classroom to meet our students’ needs.

We are looking for long term substitute teachers.

• Implement lesson plans and assign student class work and homework
• Maintain a classroom environment conductive to effective learning
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities
• Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom
• Uphold the LEAD Ethos in service of fostering a school culture of respect, responsibility, and engagement in learning
• Serve as a member of the school team by participating in the smooth day‑to‑day operations of the school, including student arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other functions

Our ideal substitute teacher is passionate working with students who need the most support, is flexible, is coachable, and would ideally like to become certified and teach for LEAD Public Schools.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of experience working with students, preferred but not required
• Previous experience with diverse student populations or in an urban setting preferred

Education:

• Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required

Other Qualifications or Characteristics:

• Belief in the LEAD mission that all students are capable of success while preparing them for college and for life
• Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
