Special Education Paraprofessional - Northeast Nashville

The paraprofessional will provide individual and small-group instruction for students with special and typical learning needs in general education environments, including the classroom, recess, and lunch areas. The paraprofessional works under the supervision of a certificated Education Specialist who provides weekly oversight, training, and direction.

Schedule: 7:15-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
Responsibilities- Implement individual and small group instruction for students with special education needs under the direction of the special education case manager
- Collaborate with students' case managers to assess progress toward goals; communicate progress with case managers and general education teachers
- Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent and well-coordinated support; contribute to a positive staff culture
- Partner with families on the academic and social progress and needs of a student
- Provide accommodations and/or modifications to learners with disabilities to access grade-level content as determined by the IEP team in collaboration with general educators
- Support students in achieving rigorous academic goals outlined in their IEP and core content; help students grow as outlined by program targets
- Implement behavior management strategies during instruction to support student engagement
- Manage student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment
- Record and provide feedback for the development of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) or Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed
- Assist in implementing BIPs, including positive reinforcement strategies and behavior support
- Record data for individualized instructional programs and positive behavior support plans
- Support a range of life skills, including toileting and diapering, hygiene, feeding, and other daily life skills
- Provide appropriate crisis intervention as necessary, using the least restrictive method
- A team player who is detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to manage responsibilities with confidence and discretion
- Comfort in a start-up environment with flexibility; strong interpersonal skills including tact, patience, and courtesy
- Passion for working with young children
- At least 2 years of college or passing score on Rocketship's Paraprofessional Assessment
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
$21 - $25.50 per hour
Compensation does not include the Summer Break period (typically from the last day of school through July
7). Compensation is based on education and years of experience working with children.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
