Nossi College of Art and Design is searching for a Graphic Design Instructor for the following subject matter areas:

Typography
Packaging Design
Motion Graphics

Campus-based position in Nashville, TN.

Position Concept

The Instructor/Faculty is the main-stay of the academic program and is a master teacher in their subject area. The Instructor must be an effective classroom manager. Each Instructor must be adaptable to a variety of situations and have the ability to relate well to students, other faculty members and the administration of the College. The Instructor must also believe in and follow the philosophy of the College and agree to support College policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field; graduate degree preferred.
Thorough knowledge of the subject matter.
Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and inspire learners.
At least five years of professional experience in the field being taught.
At least one year of teaching experience.
Up-to-date resume with at least five examples of recent work.
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of graphic design.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite; expert in at least two of the following areas:
Typography, Page Layout, Packaging Design, Publication Design, Business of Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, and UI/UX Prototyping.

Responsibilities

Teach students according to the approved syllabus. Changes may be made to the syllabus with approval from the department Coordinator, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and President.

Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

During the first class meeting, inform students of all course requirements, materials, classroom policies (absences and tardies), grading procedures, project requirements, etc.

Take and record attendance for each class meeting and maintain all class records.

Monitor and chart each student’s progress through observation, reinforcement, remediation, tutoring and review.

Assist students’ progress with weekly quizzes, mid-term and final exams, and maintain current grades for projects and presentations.

Counsel and advise students; motivate them to do their best work.

Report any personal or psychological problems that may hinder academic performance or may pose harm to self or others to the Student Services Director and College leadership.

Ensure student grading is completed on time and entered into the grade book consistently.

Notify every student, in writing, of their mid-term grade.

Ensure classrooms are in good order at the end of each class.

Provide 3 ½ hours of learning opportunity for each class.

Schedule & Location

Part-time position; on-campus only.

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday; 4 hour shifts (4 hour shift). Courses meet once a week and are offered at 8-12pm, 1-5pm, and 6-10pm.

ON CAMPUS ONLY;
Madison, TN 37115 (reliably commute or relocate before starting work).

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
Professional experience: 5 years required.
Teaching experience: 1 year preferred.
