STRIVE serves students in the McGavock Cluster (Donelson, Hermitage, & Old Hickory) and are committed to going above and beyond to ensure students are successful in high school, college, and life.

Position Overview

The Related Arts Coordinator at STRIVE Collegiate Academy plays a vital role in shaping and elevating our Physical Education, Fine Arts, and Enrichment programs. This multifaceted educator will lead instruction with a focus on joy, innovation, and student engagement. In addition to delivering high‑quality instruction, the Related Arts Coordinator will serve as the Athletic Director, teach a foundational Computer Science course, and guide 8th‑grade students through their high‑school transition process.

This role requires strong collaboration with school leadership to design and implement a robust enrichment program, coordinate school‑wide events, and ensure that Related Arts offerings align with STRIVE’s academic and cultural vision. The ideal candidate brings adaptability, creativity, and a deep passion for student development across multiple domains—academic, physical, artistic, and social‑emotional.

STRIVE Collegiate Academy will consider potential candidates who:

  • are vigilant and inventive planners and problem solvers,
  • have a deep understanding of content and pedagogy development,
  • can communicate effectively with different stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, board members, etc.),
  • will use data to drive their day‑to‑day tasks,
  • and will support the vision and mission of STRIVE Collegiate Academy.
Responsibilities and Roles
  • Instruction
    • Design and deliver engaging, data‑informed lessons aligned to the Tennessee Fine Arts, Physical Education, and Computer Science Standards.
    • Develop long‑term plans, unit assessments, and weekly lesson plans that incorporate literacy, math, history, and science through movement, music, or visual arts.
    • Teach an introductory Computer Science course that builds digital literacy and foundational coding skills, while differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.
    • Lead the planning and execution of STRIVE’s school‑wide enrichment block, ensuring access to high‑quality electives that promote creativity and critical thinking.
    • Use student data—including MAP scores, class performance, and formative assessments—to drive instructional decisions, personalize learning, and support student growth.
  • Athletic Program
    • Oversee the development and implementation of athletic programs, ensuring alignment with school culture and values.
    • Schedule practices, games, and tournaments in coordination with local leagues and partner schools.
    • Recruit, train, and support coaches; ensure compliance with all athletic policies and procedures.
    • Manage athletic equipment, uniforms, and facilities, and promote student participation with a focus on equitable access and inclusion.
    • Communicate regularly with families about sports schedules, requirements, and achievements.
  • High‑School Transition & Family Engagement
    • Teach the STRIVE to High School course, guiding 8th graders and their families through the high‑school selection and application process.
    • Meet regularly with families, analyze academic data, and coordinate with high‑school recruiters to compile strong student portfolios.
    • Plan and coordinate major events such as high‑school visits, interviews, fairs, and end‑of‑year celebrations (e.g., promotion, trips, banquets) and serve as the liaison between external vendors and school leadership.
  • School Culture & Operations
    • Create and maintain a joyful, structured classroom environment aligned with school‑wide behavior and culture systems.
