The Learning & Development Manager turns business needs into engaging, practical learning experiences that build employee capability, improve performance, and support meaningful career growth across Genesco’s corporate functions and brands. This hands‑on role combines instructional design, content creation, facilitation, and end‑to‑end program management.
Partnering with leaders and subject matter experts, you’ll develop learning solutions that support onboarding, manager and leadership development, career growth, and evolving business priorities. You’ll bring curiosity, creativity, and structure to new challenges while owning programs from initial discovery through delivery and evaluation.
How You Will Make an Impact Create Engaging Learning Experiences- Design instructor‑led, virtual, blended, and self‑paced learning that connects business priorities to clear learning outcomes and practical application.
- Create polished, original content, including facilitator guides, presentations, digital learning, videos, job aids, assessments, toolkits, and performance support resources.
- Translate complex, technical, or loosely defined topics into clear, engaging learning experiences using storytelling, visual design, interaction, and practice.
- Develop learning pathways and curricula that support onboarding, manager and leadership capability, career growth, role readiness, and other organizational priorities.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness and refine content, delivery methods, and learner experiences based on feedback and results.
- Facilitate engaging, inclusive learning for individual contributors, people leaders, senior leaders, and cross‑functional groups, encouraging participation, reflection, discussion, and practical application.
- Adapt content, tone, pace, and delivery methods to the audience, business context, and learning environment while maintaining learning objectives.
- Prepare internal facilitators and subject matter experts through practical materials, rehearsal, coaching, and feedback.
- Own assigned learning programs and projects from discovery through evaluation, bringing structure and accountability to work with evolving requirements.
- Develop project plans, milestones, workflows, stakeholder roles, communications, success measures, and quality checkpoints; identify risks and elevate decisions when needed.
- Research learning technologies, platforms, and external resources; recommend solutions that balance learner experience, business needs, practicality, and cost, and support implementation of approved solutions.
- Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, challenge assumptions constructively, and recommend solutions that balance creativity, practicality, and business value.
- Build trusted relationships across a matrixed organization, communicate recommendations and tradeoffs clearly, and influence progress without direct authority.
- Explore emerging learning practices, facilitation techniques, and generative AI, translating promising ideas into responsible, useful improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in learning and development, instructional design, education, human resources, organizational development, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
