Position Overview

Apply for the Senior Estimator – Bridge & Highway Construction role at Mas Tec Civil, LLC, a Mas Tec Company
. The position is a remote/hybrid role within the state of Tennessee.

Job Summary

Mas Tec Civil is hiring a Senior Estimator to support growth in the Nashville, TN infrastructure market. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of estimating experience and at least 3 years of field experience in heavy civil construction, specifically roadway work such as earth movement, drainage, clearing & grubbing, grading, roadway bases, channel excavation, retaining walls, water main, force main, and related activities.

Applicants must possess knowledge of contract delivery methods (design‑build, design‑bid‑build, lump sum) and experience with Tennessee DOT/turnpike, city/county, and airport authority contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze bid items, basis of estimate, and plans to identify errors and discrepancies.
  • Build green sheet estimates, activity structures, construction schedules, and risk matrix analyses.
  • Create job budgets for awarded contracts.
  • Perform accurate and timely quantity takeoffs.
  • Lead estimating discussions with company executives and review subcontractor pricing.
  • Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors for quotes and analysis.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review updated Tennessee DOT standards and specifications.
  • Provide clarifications on plans and specifications to owners or engineers of record.
  • Assist with pre‑bid meetings and bid submittals.
  • Stay informed on commodity trade prices, construction technologies, and techniques.
  • Continuously communicate with field personnel to adjust unit costs as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of heavy civil estimating experience with a preference for roadway/highway/bridge projects.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in Nashville, Tennessee.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, and ethical standards.
  • Excellent organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of bridge and roadway construction.
  • Familiarity with Tennessee DOT and Turnpike contract requirements and soil conditions (rock/clay, foundations).
  • Proficiency with design‑build and design‑bid‑build contracts.
  • Strong mentoring and teaching abilities.
Software Skills
  • 30‑Hour OSHA training
