Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a highly motivated and ambitious Water Resources Engineer in Nashville, TN. Candidates should have a firm understanding and knowledge of hydrologic & hydraulic principles, design and analysis as well as Autodesk Civil3D.
Responsibilities- Design and drafting of construction plans, preparation of contract documents, quantity take-offs and opinions of construction costs for stormwater capital improvement projects, including open/closed system drainage rehabilitation, canals and flood control structures.
- Perform and/or conduct hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis and water quality analysis of open channel and/or closed conduit stormwater collection systems.
- Ability to design site-specific best management practices (BMPs) to achieve permitting requirements including conventional, low impact development and stormwater volume control BMPs.
- Preparation of permit applications and supporting documentation to obtain regulatory construction permits.
- Preparation of one- and two-dimensional hydrologic/hydraulic models, FEMA CLOMR/LOMR applications, documents and exhibits and drainage reports.
- Ability to use HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, XPSWMM, Arc Map, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software preferred; two-dimensional hydraulic modeling a plus.
- 6+ years total engineering experience
- 5+ years experience including Hydrology & Hydraulic design and analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer License with ability to obtain reciprocity in Georgia or South Carolina within six months of hire
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organization skills.
- Must be willing to work in a fast paced, client driven atmosphere in a team setting.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Hydrology & Hydraulics models, Arc Map and Civil3D.
