Water/Wastewater Engineer

Join the HMB Professional Engineers, LLC team in Nashville, TN. This role is part of the Transportation Department. The Water/Wastewater Engineer will design and oversee public water and wastewater projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of water resources and compliant wastewater treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design pumping and storage systems for drinking water, and design wastewater collection and conveyance systems.
  • Assist senior design staff in design of water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Review and analyze storm water drainage systems and floodplain conveyance design.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for public utility infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze and recommend water and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Develop specifications for pumping and force main systems.
  • Collaborate with contractors, government agencies, and client teams on construction of assigned projects.
  • Ensure design and equipment specifications comply with local, state, and federal codes.
  • Prepare written technical reports and support clients with technical expertise.
  • Provide cost-benefit analyses and support marketing team on RFPs and project scoping.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer registration.
  • 5+ years of experience in water resources public infrastructure projects.
  • Experience designing water treatment plants.
  • Project and client management experience.
  • Capability to mentor junior staff and manage multi-discipline projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time‑management, and teamwork skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
