Location of (1) Position(s) to be filled:
Department of Transportation, Davidson County.
This position is in the Asset Management Division - Fleet/Facilities Section.
This position has a starting salary of $5,119 monthly / $61,428 annually.
Qualifications- An associate or bachelor's degree in a related field of study and three (3) years of demonstrated competency in a related technical discipline.
- OR Education equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of demonstrated competency in a related technical discipline.

Qualifications:
- Some positions within this classification may require candidates possess and maintain a Class D driver's license valid to operate vehicles in the State of Tennessee.
- Some positions within this classification may require candidates to possess and maintain, or obtain at their own expense and within 11 months of hire or promotion to this classification, a Class A Commercial Driver's License with an N endorsement without a Code O restriction (Code 52 restriction is allowable) that is valid in the State of Tennessee.
- You must pass a drug test prior to employment if a CDL is required.
- Incorporating overtime, weekends, and night shifts into schedules.
- Extended durations outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Working in and around construction and vehicular traffic.

This is the first of the two technical coordination levels within the Engineering Technician classification series. This position is responsible for supporting the coordination of the technical aspects of transportation projects and programs.
Responsibilities- Conduct project‑specific research for multiple phases of the project life cycle.
- Develop project estimates and schedules.
- Perform project documentation close‑outs as required by federal and state agreements.
- Analyze data sets derived from research and develop recommendations.
- Develop transportation infrastructure reports, specifications, plans, and contract documents for review and approval.
- Analyze outcomes to provide feedback and recommendations on existing specifications and plans.
- Read complex technical documents and plan sets to extract needed information.
- Operate equipment to collect, analyze, and present data.
- Process complex data sets to produce required deliverables.
- Analyze and process permits for compliance.
- Conduct field inspections.
- Provide administrative oversight and document daily activities.
- Review and approve progress reports.
- Complete invoicing and payments to consultants, contractors, vendors, and utility companies.
- Read, interpret, and apply federal and state statutes related to transportation activities.
- Assist internal and external customers in identifying, documenting, and resolving highly complex issues.
- Perform complex laboratory sampling and testing of materials and components.
- Operate various land surveying equipment and measuring equipment to document volumetric quantities.
- Perform complex calculations using discipline‑specific computer programs and cloud‑based technologies.
- Operating various survey equipment to set line, grade, perform route surveys, and project control.
- Prioritize and incorporate safe practices into daily activities.
- Develop and implement traffic control and work zone safety plans per MUTCD and TDOT policies.
- Ensure compliance work site safety plans for industrial plant sites and laboratory facilities.
