August Bioservices is looking for a highly motivated Senior Automation Engineer to join the Engineering Operations team. The Engineering Operations team supports manufacturing operations located in Nashville TN. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Facilities, this position is responsible for providing day to day and project‑based automation support for both cGMP and non‑GMP groups within the manufacturing organization located in Tennessee.

Project work includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations.

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for using expertise to design innovative solutions. These solutions span the areas of automation systems, data historians, IoT devices, etc. The person will be responsible for maintaining and providing technical support, ensuring availability of the automation systems within the Nashville site.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project work that includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical and commercial manufacturing operations.
  • Design, architect, troubleshoot, and deliver future enhancements for automation related systems.
  • Provide technical support and maintenance of the automation systems
  • Provide oversight to contractors for staff augmentation and/or project roles as needed.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of process automation related design challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with inter‑department and cross‑functional teams to lead necessary changes in a timely and productive manner.
  • 24/7 on‑call support for emergencies as needed.
  • Requires working in an industrial manufacturing environment including gowning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with multiple computerized systems (Rockwell, Delta

    V, PI, etc.).
  • Experience working in regulated environments (i.e., cGMP, OSHA, EPA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of bus technologies and Instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of validation requirements for control systems in CGMP and/or ASTM environments.
  • Proficiency in computer programs and applications such as Windows, VBA, Microsoft Word, and Excel, Access, etc.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and be accountable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Delta

    V.
  • Experience with SCADA/PLC systems, such as Rockwell Factory Talk/RSLogix.
  • Experience with control systems/network/validation.
  • Experienced in establishment of safe practices in a cGMP environment.
  • Proven technical and analytical skills to quickly resolve automation system issues.
  • Understanding of data integrity principles and processes.
  • Experience with IoT solution and edge devices.
