Join to apply for the Structural PE role at Wallace Design Collective
We have an immediate opportunity for the right candidate in our structural engineering practice. Candidate must have previous experience in the structural design of steel and concrete structures. Successful candidates must be able to earn the confidence of our clients through elegant, practical, and timely engineering solutions.
Responsibilities & Skills- Technical Production:
Take the lead on day-to-day engineering and production work. You will be responsible for the "heavy lifting," ensuring designs are accurate, efficient, and buildable. - Project Ownership:
Act as a "right hand" to the Principals, carving off significant sections of large-scale projects or managing smaller projects independently from initial concept through completion. - Structural Modeling & QC:
Utilize RAM Structural System to model complex buildings. You won't just hit "run"—you’ll be expected to verify outputs, perform "smell tests" on results, and ensure the engineering logic is sound. - Material Versatility:
Execute designs across multiple material types, with a primary focus on Steel and Reinforced Concrete structures. - Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of contact for your "chunk" of the project, coordinating with architects, MEP consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration. - RAM Structural System Expert:
Deep experience with RAM is required. You must have the technical intuition to recognize when the software output doesn't align with engineering reality. - Proven Building
Experience:
We need a "plug-and-play" engineer. You should have a strong background in building design and be ready to hit the ground running without significant training on structural fundamentals. - Concrete & Steel Mastery:
Solid experience designing and detailing both structural steel and reinforced concrete systems. - Project Management Mindset:
While this is a production-heavy role, you should have the organizational skills to manage schedules, milestones, and client needs for the pieces of the projects you own. - Culture Add:
We are a collaborative, high-energy group. We value engineers who are proactive, communicative, and mesh well with a team that values technical excellence and mutual respect.
- Master of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
- Licensed engineer in the state of Tennessee or have the ability to get licensed there immediately.
