This role directly supports Amazon’s 2040 Climate Pledge by enabling the responsible deployment of alternative energy technologies.

You’ll work across engineering, operations, and construction teams to integrate Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements from design through execution. Your work will shape safety outcomes at a global scale and ensure that new technologies meet strict internal and external standards. This is an opportunity to lead, influence, and innovate in one of the most dynamic safety engineering environments in the world.

This role is grounded in technical leadership. You’ll be responsible for aligning risk controls with best practices and regulatory frameworks, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Risk Management Plan (RMP), NFPA 70E, IEC 61511, IEC 61010.

Key job responsibilities
  • Participate in risk evaluations in accordance with OSHA , IEC 61511, ISO

  • Support the development of PSM policies, standards, training, and safe operating procedures.
  • Interpret and apply regulations, codes, and relevant standards.
  • Advise partner engineering organizations and operations teams on regulations, regulatory compliance concerns, and good engineering practices in relation to equipment design, process control, electrical safety system operation.
  • Participate in new standard developments with Engineering, Injury Prevention Specialists, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME), Operations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work with various teams to review and approve designs of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.
  • Maintain all regulatory compliance documentation to ensure accurate and up to date adherence to standards.
  • Manage projects that require certifications that comply with local, national and international regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equipment certification requirements (CE, UL, etc.) and experience working with NRTLs.
  • Integration of control and safety systems into the design of new and existing equipment.
  • Work with WHS safety teams, technical engineering teams and suppliers to specify safety or other risk‑related requirements for projects across multiple regions.
  • Contribute to building a safety culture that enables our technical engineering teams to develop safe and compliant products, systems and solutions.
