Position: Industrial Hygienist I

Industrial Hygienist I – Nashville Office, Full‑Time, Exempt, Reports to Project Manager

Description

GHP, a leading architectural, environmental, and construction services consulting firm based in Nashville, TN, is seeking a technically minded environmental professional with a strong science background to join our team as an Industrial Hygienist I. The role focuses on using your expertise in environmental health to protect worker safety and health across multiple construction and renovation projects.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct tests and analyses to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases.
  • Collect building material samples for asbestos content, mold growth, and other potentially hazardous materials.
  • Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis.
  • Perform moisture intrusion assessments and create moisture maps for water‑impacted facilities.
  • Perform industrial hygiene field measurements and safety evaluations.
  • Determine monitoring and sampling strategies and conduct appropriate activities.
  • Maintain, operate, and calibrate sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings and provide recommendations to correct hazardous conditions.
  • Coordinate sub‑consultants, sub‑contractors, and team members to ensure project success.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures; utilize ERP and document control software to enhance project efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Biology, Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4 years of progressive experience in the Industrial Hygiene field.
  • Active Asbestos and Mold certifications, or working toward certification achievement.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and U.S. citizenship (no visa sponsorship).
  • Willingness to travel emergency and scheduled basis; physical ability to visit job sites, climb ladders, and lift 20 pounds or more.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to meet deadlines with quality work.
