Environmental Planner 1

HDR’s Transportation Business Group is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner 1 to help shape safe, efficient and sustainable transportation systems. The role is based in either the Nashville or Brentwood, Tennessee offices.

• Collect and manage project-related data for environmental science and planning studies.
• Provide technical guidance on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related environmental law and regulation for transportation and non‑transportation projects.
• Prepare and/or review NEPA documents.
• Manage, analyze, conduct, and/or review technical studies supporting NEPA documents.
• Assist senior staff with environmental task assignments.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Resources, Planning, or a related field.
• Previous environmental planning experience.
• Local candidates preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Resources, or Planning.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self‑starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving, and research abilities.
• Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture is a must.
